Key Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of ultrasonic equipment for the diagnosis of disease in humans.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders in order to perform the prescribed study.
  • Maintains patient monitoring, records, and communication during the procedure.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, and referral.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Edits learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program.
  • Two to three (2-3) years of ultrasound technician experience.
  • Four or more (4+) years of ultrasound technician experience in an outpatient setting.
  • Four or more (4+) years of ultrasound technician experience in an outpatient setting within specialty.
  • Valid Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
  • Registered as a Technologist (RT) and certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • State licensure if required by law.
