Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - PRN

Job Summary

Responsible for performing ultrasounds in a professional and diagnostic manner. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly understand the operation of the ultrasound machine and utilize new technologies.
• Performs a variety of ultrasound examinations.
• Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with patients and all organizational staff.
• Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the sonography field.
• Displays empathy, compassion, and integrity.
• Possesses an understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.
• Conducts self professionally at all times, even during moments of high stress.
• Assists when necessary with the maintenance of accreditation requirements and processes.
• Understands age-related protocols for various testing.
• Coordinate work with physicians or other healthcare team members, including providing assistance during invasive procedures when applicable.
• Supervises and train students and medical sonographers as needed.
• Reports and calls in-service requests on equipment when needed.
• Based on the facility, some Sanford markets/facility sites may expand job responsibilities to include echocardiography.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or a minimum of one year equivalent work experience is preferred.
• Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or registry eligible. Registry preferred within two years after hiring.
• If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
• For employees who provide outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required. This may include passenger on flights and occasional overnight stays at assigned sites.
• Employees are held to the Sanford category driver's license policy and medical guidelines when applicable for job duties.

Schedule & Pay

Casual/PRN position with variable schedule based on candidate availability and department need. Weekly hours vary. Salary range: $36.00 - $49.50.
