About the role

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position is located at the Marsh Med Ctr Minocqua in Minocqua, WI, and is a full-time, 32 hours per week, day shift role.

This position may be eligible for a sign on bonus up to $20,000. The facility address is 9576 WI-70, Minocqua, WI 54548, USA.

Responsibilities

Responsible for performing ultrasounds in a professional and diagnostic manner. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.

  • Thoroughly understand the operation of the ultrasound machine and utilize new technologies
  • Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations
  • Establish and maintain ethical working relationships and good rapport with patients and all organizational staff
  • Maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the sonography field
  • Conduct self professionally at all times, even during moments of high stress
  • Assist when necessary with the maintenance of accreditation requirements and processes
  • Understand age-related protocols for various testing
  • Coordinate work with physicians or other healthcare team members, including providing assistance during invasive procedures when applicable
  • Supervise and train students and medical sonographers as needed
  • Report and call in-service requests on equipment when needed

Additionally, based on the facility, some Sanford markets/facility sites may expand job responsibilities to include echocardiography.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or a minimum of one year equivalent work experience is preferred.

  • Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or registry eligible
  • Registry preferred within two years after hiring
  • If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required
  • For employees who provide outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required
