Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Job Summary
Responsible for performing ultrasounds in a professional and diagnostic manner. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images. Thoroughly understand the operation of the ultrasound machine and utilize new technologies. Performs a variety of ultrasound examinations. Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with patients and all organizational staff. Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the sonography field. Displays empathy, compassion, and integrity. Possesses an understanding of cross-sectional anatomy. Conducts self professionally at all times, even during moments of high stress. Assists when necessary with the maintenance of accreditation requirements and processes. Understands age-related protocols for various testing. Coordinate work with physicians or other healthcare team members, including providing assistance during invasive procedures when applicable. Supervises and train students and medical sonographers as needed. Reports and calls in-service requests on equipment when needed.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or a minimum of one year Equivalent Work Experience
- Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or registry eligible
- Registry preferred within two years after hiring
- If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required
- For employees who provide outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required

About the Role
The Reproductive Medicine Clinic is located at 1111 Harwood Drive in Fargo, ND. Ultrasound coverage includes one sonographer for clinic day shifts Monday-Friday. No evenings. The sonographer is responsible for performing follicle scans and early OB exams. The sonographer assists the providers with saline sonograms, trial transfers, and embryo transfers. Weekend coverage consists of morning follicle scans for IVF patients one Saturday per month.
