About the role

This position is in Santa Rosa, in the heart of California’s beautiful wine country, the corporate headquarters of Keysight and home to many product development R&D labs. The Digital and Photonics R&D team in Santa Rosa develops and produces the world’s highest performance oscilloscopes. You will work in close collaboration with a diverse multi-functional team of engineers, scientists, and researchers around the globe to meet the communications electronics measurement challenges of today and tomorrow. The focus is on giving customers insight into developing digital communication and Internet infrastructure signals and devices.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and run the existing sampling scope codebase build and release process, working with the current build master.
  • Maintain the current build environment, responding to required software security changes, and keeping the build toolchain operational.
  • Analyze and propose targeted transitions toward a new DevOps build/release toolchain where the team agrees it improves software productivity and toolchain stability/security.
  • Be a key contributor to bring the sampling scope codebase into European Union Cyber Resilience Act (EU CRA) compliance, working with the team to maintain secure software development and deployment practices.
  • Organize the triage and track resolution of SAST scan discovered issues, incorporating them into regular prioritization alongside issues found via team and customer use, Sprint QA, and release QA stages.
  • Organize the triage and track resolution of threat modeling analysis discovered issues, incorporating them into regular prioritization with other issues.
  • Work with the codebase product software Security Champion to identify potential EU CRA software bill of materials components (third party, common KTO, etc.) that may impact compliance deadlines.
  • Learn and improve the existing sampling scope software QA process, focusing on development and implementation of improved automated test coverage.
  • Participate in the codebase quality process from initial triage of incoming issues to verification and closure in each sprint and release cycle.
  • Target, run, and analyze nightly regression test beds.
  • Analyze current automated QA coverage, identify gaps, and propose and implement automated processes, test scripts, and codebase improvements to address those gaps.
  • Learn about sampling scope measurements and factors influencing measurement result throughput; consider possible additions to improve measurement throughput.

Requirements

  • Significant software development knowledge with a focus on software quality practices and package deployment methods.
  • Relevant technical background in software engineering with substantial QA experience.
  • BS or MS degree in software engineering or a related field, with strong skills in software development and 2-4 years of related QA, software toolchain, or software security experience.
  • One or more examples of software quality implementation leadership; ability to discuss QA coverage, tools, and practices.
  • Demonstrated success in leading software development projects with skills in backlog management, sprint planning, and progress tracking.
  • Knowledge of software quality practices and evidence of excellent leadership in triage, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Enjoy working with a diverse, multi-functional team to deliver prototype designs into volume manufacturing on a global scale.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with a quantitative data analysis aptitude.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and lead a team through change.
  • Strong time management and ability to work independently within a supportive team of mentors.

Preferred Skills

  • Evidence of pushing a team of busy software developers to develop appropriate unit, regression, and functional tests during feature development, use QA tools in a regular process, and respond to triage/closure work on defects.
  • Competence in developing test software; knowledge of C# is a plus.
  • Knowledge of software release processes, installer testing, and release deployment tools.
  • Knowledge of software development environments, particularly the Visual Studio ecosystem.

Schedule

This position is on-site in Santa Rosa, California.

Pay

California Pay Range: Minimum $122,580.00 – Midpoint $159,470.00 – Maximum $199,340.00. For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region.
