Description About the Role As a DevOps Engineer II, you will take ownership of the architecture, strategy, and reliability of our automated deployment pipelines and infrastructure, driving operational excellence across the organization. Building on a strong foundation of DevOps execution, you will design scalable, secure infrastructure solutions, set technical standards for CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices, and lead the resolution of complex production issues. You will act as a technical leader within the DevOps function, mentoring DevOps Engineer I team members and partnering closely with development, QA, and security teams to shape how systems are built, deployed, and operated. Your work will directly influence the organization's infrastructure strategy — from evaluating and selecting new tools and platforms to designing disaster recovery and capacity plans that keep systems resilient at scale. You will be expected to anticipate operational risk before it becomes an incident, drive continuous improvement in deployment velocity and system reliability, and translate infrastructure decisions into business impact for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. While DevOps Engineer I focuses on building and maintaining well-defined pipelines and infrastructure, this role owns the design decisions, standards, and technical direction that guide the broader team's work. Responsibilities Architect and drive the technical strategy for CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code practices, and deployment automation across teamsDesign scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure solutions, including disaster recovery and capacity planningLead incident response and root cause analysis for critical production issues, driving long-term remediation rather than short-term fixesSet and enforce standards, best practices, and documentation for infrastructure, security, and deployment processes across the DevOps functionMentor and provide technical guidance to DevOps Engineer I team members, including code/config reviews and skill developmentEvaluate, select, and integrate new tools, platforms, and technologies to improve reliability, security, and delivery velocityPartner with security teams to define and implement DevSecOps standards across pipelines and infrastructureCollaborate with engineering and product leadership to align infrastructure strategy with business prioritiesDrive cost optimization and efficiency initiatives across cloud infrastructureServe as an escalation point and technical authority during high-severity production incidents, including on-call rotations Skills In this role, your ability to architect infrastructure and pipeline strategy — not just implement it — will differentiate your daily work from earlier-career DevOps roles. Your deep expertise with cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code will enable you to design systems that scale reliably under changing demands, while your command of containerization and orchestration will guide how the broader team structures microservice deployments. Your judgment in security and observability will shape how the organization detects and prevents issues rather than simply reacting to them. Equally important are your leadership and mentorship skills, as you will be relied upon to raise the technical bar for the DevOps team and to represent the function in cross-team strategic discussions. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience5+ years of experience in DevOps, system administration, or infrastructure automation, including experience designing infrastructure solutions rather than solely implementing predefined specificationsDemonstrated experience architecting and implementing CI/CD pipeline strategy (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions) across multiple teams or productsAdvanced proficiency with Linux/Unix operating systems and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShellDemonstrated experience designing and provisioning cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, or Bicep) at a system/architecture levelAdvanced experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes), including designing microservice deployment strategiesStrong understanding of networking, security, and system monitoring concepts, with experience defining monitoring/alerting strategy rather than just responding to alertsExperience leading or owning incident response and root cause analysis for production systemsUS Citizenship, ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance Preferred Qualifications Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent advanced-level certificationExperience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior DevOps or infrastructure engineersExperience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef at scaleExperience with database management, optimization, and infrastructure cost optimization (FinOps)Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments in a technical leadership capacityAdvanced experience with logging and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog, or Splunk, including designing observability strategyExperience with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments
