About the role

Under supervision, you will complete HVAC/R work assignments, perform preventive maintenance and repairs, and assist with the service and operation of company property. This role involves collaborating with management, coworkers, customers, and other business partners to identify priorities, meet deadlines, and improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide required paperwork by completing forms (e.g., expense vouchers, weekly summaries, refrigerant logs, work orders) and submitting them to senior leadership.
  • Assist other Facilities Services associates by gathering capital expenditures lists.
  • Develop scopes of work to update HVAC/R or energy management systems (e.g., rooftop units, condenser coil replacements).
  • Identify issues related to regular HVAC/R service.
  • Complete HVAC/R work assignments and priorities using company policies, data, and resources.
  • Collaborate with management, coworkers, customers, and business partners to communicate progress and address improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations by following Walmart HVAC/R safety policies.
  • Assist in controlling costs by conducting price comparisons for refrigerants, parts, and travel-related expenses, and submitting warranty claims.
  • Perform major and minor preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC/R equipment, emergency management systems, and direct digital control equipment (e.g., replacing electrical motors, contactors, belts; installing compressors).
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose HVAC/R problems; perform minor repairs and schedule major repairs.
  • Maintain and coordinate company vehicles, including arranging alternate transportation, checking fuel/water levels, brakes, signals, and lights, and submitting maintenance invoices.
  • Safely operate motor vehicles and ensure they have all required documents, including valid insurance.
  • Wear company uniform and badge in accordance with policies.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Work or train at multiple facilities or distant locations, and use heavy machinery as needed.

Requirements

  • Hold and maintain Universal or Type I and Type II Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Option 1: 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Option 2: 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
  • EPA 608 Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, or OUI within the last five years.
  • No more than two moving violations in the last three years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related area for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances (e.g., based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed). Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
