Developmental Math Non-Tenure Track Faculty - Gallatin College (Applicant Pool)

About the role

Gallatin College seeks qualified individuals to provide non-tenurable level instruction and/or related functions in the areas of Basic Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, and a wide range of Algebra courses from Prealgebra up to and including College Algebra.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an active learning environment four to five days per week in a face-to-face classroom environment.
  • Attend weekly coordination meetings.
  • Maintain a minimum of four office hours per week on the Bozeman campus.
  • Provide assistance to students in a drop-in help lab at least one hour per week.

Requirements

  • Vary based on course assignments for Developmental Math courses: a bachelor’s degree in the discipline.
  • Master’s degree required in Mathematics or a related academic field for core level coursework (Contemporary Mathematics and College Algebra).
  • Demonstrated experience working with and engaging students and colleagues within and outside the department.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in the discipline for Developmental Math courses.
  • A master’s degree in the discipline for core level coursework (Contemporary Mathematics and College Algebra).
  • Prior teaching experience for Developmental Math courses.
  • Understanding of the Two-year College Mission.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff enrichment.

Skills

The successful candidate will work professionally and effectively with individuals and groups. They must possess effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. They should have the ability to contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the mission of Gallatin College Montana State University. They should be aware of the needs of at-risk students both inside and outside of the classroom by constantly monitoring student progress, providing feedback to both students and advisors, and connecting students to university resources as appropriate.

Benefits

Benefits eligibility depends on FTE and is determined by job duties and the collective bargaining unit. Faculty – Gallatin College – Any position more than .5 FTE may be eligible for benefits as outlined in the policies of the Montana Two-Year College Faculty Association (MTYCFA), Montana State University, the Montana University System, or the AFMSU Non-Tenure Track Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Pay

Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and duration.

Schedule

This position may be on a part-time basis and vary in duration, ranging from a couple weeks to an academic year, depending on the specific needs of the department or program.
