Developmental Biology - Instructor

About the role

For over three decades, researchers in the Division of Developmental Biology at Cincinnati Children’s have pioneered groundbreaking discoveries that provide insight into fundamental mechanisms of development, with an end goal of using these discoveries to advance patient care and lead to novel treatments and therapies. As a national referral site and recognized leader in clinical care and research, our mission is to enhance child health through the discovery of cellular, molecular and genetic mechanisms controlling embryonic development. We use those findings to determine how disruptions in these processes contribute to disease and inform the development of new treatments and therapies.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute state-of-the-art research both independently and collaboratively, often in association with other ongoing research projects or service-related work.
• Mentor technicians, students, and fellows in academic skills, promoting teamwork and interpersonal relationships.
• Provide direction to students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals in research and professional conduct.
• Teach research protocols and methodologies to medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Attend and participate in lectures, seminars, presentations, and conferences within the division and at multidisciplinary events.
• Participate in national conferences as an attendee or presenter, and apply knowledge to patient care plans and procedures.
• Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, literature, and seminars, and implement this knowledge within the division.
• Write and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts competitive for top journals and submit competitive grant proposals for extramural funding.
• Present research data at national meetings and publish findings in a timely manner.
• Maintain compliance with all departmental policies, procedures, and standards, including CCHMC policies and Core Standards.
• Ensure proper handling of confidential information and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Oversee orientation, in-service training, and continuing education according to CCHMC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), or equivalent.
• May require prior postdoctoral experience in a specific research area.
• Instructor faculty appointment or eligibility.
• Preferred: 3+ years of postdoctoral experience in the specific research area.
