Position Summary
Hebrew SeniorLife is seeking a Development Assistant to join our Development and Board Relations team. The ideal candidate will have one to four years of development experience and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Reporting directly to the Research and Database System Manager, this role supports development operations, major gifts, and event planning initiatives.
Position Responsibilities
- Performs aspects of donor prospect research, processes Meditech data into Raiser’s Edge (RE), updates RE to reflect changes in housing residents, conducts in-house research to verify address changes, conducts in-house research to verify updates suggested through NCOA/Address Updater and DeceasedFinder reports, emails changes, downloads Media attachments from RE into designated folder on the shared drive, updates/adds non-solicitor relationships as needed, creates new records as needed, runs quarterly queries, manages the Religious Memorials Program, handles Weekly Yahrzeit Mailing, communicates weekly list to Engineering regarding lights to be lit in the Synagogue for daily Yahrzeit observance, orders new Synagogue Plaques and arranges for them to be hung, assists with coordination of team projects, supports in-house appeals, supports the Annual Giving Program, works with frontline fundraisers to carry out prospect and donor stewardship plans, maintains policies and procedures related to stewardship, and owns production of annual volunteer leader holiday cards from start to finish.
- Increases the annual giving program’s capacity, drafts thank you letters, ensures timely and personalized appreciation for gifts, creates reports/updates demonstrating the impact of donor contributions, tracks donor visits and engagement, and assists Events team on small stewardship events.
- Maintains policies and procedures related to stewardship, and owns production of annual volunteer leader holiday cards from start to finish.
- Runs monthly milestone report, sharing results with appropriate development team members.
- Works with colleagues to produce/send milestone letters and gifts to donors and volunteer leaders.
Qualifications
- Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 4 years of development experience (or comparable experience).
- Preferred Skills/Qualifications: High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database programs (experience working with Raiser’s Edge is a plus), strong project management skills with proficiency in prioritizing conflicting needs and managing projects to successful completion, excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail, desire to work as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, customer focused, entrepreneurial environment, excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, and strong independent judgment and discretion in appropriately handling sensitive issues and confidential information.
