Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Institute for the Environment (IE) has a multifaceted mission: (1) Strengthen environmental research capacity across UNC by supporting a multi-disciplinary community of scholars, enhancing collaboration, and identifying solutions to global environmental problems. (2) Coordinate and deliver 21st-century educational programs that prepare students for a global economy. (3) Engage and serve communities locally and globally through new environmental knowledge. (4) Fuel and harness the university's sustainability activities through the Sustainable Carolina Initiative.
Position Summary
This position may offer a hybrid work arrangement. UNC Chapel Hill employees must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The Development Office Assistant supports fundraising operations by strengthening the annual giving pipeline, increasing donor retention, and identifying prospects for major gift cultivation. Key responsibilities include:
- Pulling and segmenting donor lists
- Preparing renewal and reactivation outreach
- Sending stewardship communications
- Identifying donors with upgrade potential
- Maintaining accurate donor records
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent, along with demonstrated competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
- Database/CRM experience
- Understanding of fundraising/nonprofit work or related professional experience
- Excellent communication and strong organizational skills
