Position Summary

YAFFED seeks a proactive, detail-oriented, and strategic Development Manager to manage fundraising efforts that support our mission and expand our impact. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education equity and systematic change, with a strong background in Jewish philanthropy, donor cultivation, and grant writing. This position will work closely with the Executive Director to build and execute our development strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support a comprehensive development strategy across multiple revenue streams, including major donors, institutions, and small-dollar donors.
• Manage donor communications and stewardship, including acknowledgment process and funder reports.
• Steward the institutional development strategy.
• Write compelling grant proposals and reports.
• Track deadlines and coordinate submissions with the Executive Director and finance team.
• Research funding opportunities.
• Identify through research, cultivate, and steward individual donors in partnership with the Executive Director.
• Design and implement a moves management protocol for major donors and prospects that includes projections and stewardship strategies; cultivate relationships with current, lapsed, and prospective donors.
• Plan and execute virtual and in-person development events (e.g., donor briefings, parlor meetings) to acquire new donors and engage current donors.
• Work with PR firm and YAFFED staff to develop and implement a digital fundraising program.
• Maintain CRM and protocols to manage and track all donor data.
• Support the Board of Directors in executing fundraising activities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in nonprofit development with demonstrated fundraising success and experience communicating with a variety of stakeholders.
• Experience with moves management, donor engagement tools (CRMs), outreach to donors, event management, securing meetings, and soliciting gifts.
• Demonstrated success in accurately projecting, managing and meeting fundraising goals.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills and ability to connect with diverse personalities and stakeholders.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in advocacy, education, policy, organizing, or mission-driven nonprofit organizations.
• Commitment to YAFFED’s mission and capability to learn the complexities of the issue in New York City and State.
• Preference will be given to candidates who meet the above and also have a familiarity with the Jewish philanthropic landscape and have experience working in the Greater New York Area’s Jewish communal landscape.

Preferred:

• Exposure to Jewish philanthropy or the NYC nonprofit landscape

Salary & Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience: $60-80,000
