Development Manager

FieldHaven Feline Center is a dynamic and growing nonprofit feline rescue organization based in Northern California. This role is a unique opportunity to raise funds that enable FieldHaven’s lifesaving mission through community outreach, fundraising campaigns, events, and grant funding. The Development Manager reports to the Executive Director and works closely with a visionary leadership team passionate about enhancing resources for community cats in need.

About the role

This is a full-time, non-exempt position based in Lincoln, California. Travel is required to all FieldHaven locations, including Citrus Heights. A flexible schedule is required, with availability for occasional evening and weekend events.

Responsibilities

• Work with the board of directors and executive director to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan employing strategies such as online giving, donor recognition and engagement, major gifts, corporate gifts/sponsorships, planned giving, and fundraising events (including e-newsletters and direct mail).
• Establish development goals, budgets, timelines, and procedures; monitor progress and adjust strategies to achieve goals.
• Conduct community outreach, serving as a representative of FieldHaven and coordinating staff or volunteer participation at community events.
• Manage grants in coordination with the executive director, including research, identification of opportunities, applications, and follow-up on grant reporting.
• Develop and maintain corporate sponsorships.
• Stay current with emerging best practices and trends in development/fundraising and animal welfare.
• Maintain high standards for quality of work and provide excellent customer service to donors, volunteers, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Work closely with marketing staff to coordinate communications and collateral materials.
• Ensure strong internal communications, consistent messaging, and maximize the impact of campaigns.
• Gather and share compelling stories to highlight the organization’s work.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• A minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit fundraising/development.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); ability to learn and use new programs/information systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally and personably with diverse individuals.
• Maturity, good judgment, and professionalism in all situations; respect for confidentiality.
• Energetic, positive outlook, and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Self-starter with strong initiative; ability to set goals and work independently.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Flexibility and adaptability to a changing environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
• Commitment to FieldHaven’s mission and a strong desire to stay informed about animal welfare issues.
• Comfort speaking or presenting to groups is a plus.
• Knowledge of animal welfare is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and sit regularly for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds alone or with assistance for short distances.
• Ability to regularly climb short flights of stairs.
• Must be able to work in conditions involving exposure to injured, sick, unruly, or fractious animals.
• Any allergic condition aggravated by exposure to animals or sanitizing chemicals may be disqualifying.

Pay

The wage range is $25 - $30 per hour.
