Development Engineering Technician II - B Crew/Night Shift

About the Role

Support Development Engineering (DE) tests in the JNC line or perform testing in a lab environment with a focus on laser operation. Use engineering and technical skills to interpret instructions into actions and experimental outcomes. May assist in troubleshooting tool or process issues and suggest system improvements to achieve performance goals. May compile and analyze test data from performed testing.

Responsibilities

• Apply technical skills to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to meet complex requirements of the position.
• Resolve questions and problems independently; duties are frequently non-routine.
• Own a particular operational process or equipment within your functional group, including overseeing maintenance and training others.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering tests (ETAs) on the production line, coupon line, or laboratory, including cross-team coordination.
• Work under minimal supervision.
• Comply with Company’s Environmental, Quality, Safety, or other enforced policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years of relevant technical experience or 2 years of experience as a Development Engineer Technician I at First Solar.
• Associate’s Degree in an engineering discipline or similar technical field and 3 years of relevant technical experience or 2 years of experience as a Development Engineer Technician I at First Solar.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline or similar technical field without prior technical work experience.

Skills

• Ability to operate laser tools and perform minor troubleshooting.
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office and some knowledge of SQL/JMP.
• Expertise in executing experiments in a lab or production floor environment; may train others.
• Strong communication skills across all levels of associates.

Benefits

This position reports to a Development Engineer and may require up to 5% travel for training or other needs.

Pay

Estimated hourly salary range: $23.37–$32.69.

Schedule

6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, rotating schedule: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 3 days off.

Physical Requirements

• Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for the entire duration of a shift.
• Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
• Will lift, push, or pull up to 37 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects on a frequent basis.
• 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
• Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron, and arm guards.
• All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any time; ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment (requires little or no facial hair).
