Responsibilities
- Investigating complaints
- Conducting field inspections
- Enforcing zoning, sign, nuisance, and land development regulations
- Working collaboratively with property owners, businesses, contractors, and developers to achieve voluntary compliance
- Aiding in the implementation of the Town’s Landscape Ordinance by reviewing landscape plans, conducting inspections, and verifying compliance with approved development plans before issuing Certificates of Occupancy
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Engineering, Geography, or a related field preferred
- Two or more years of experience in code enforcement, zoning administration, planning, development review, construction inspection, municipal government, or a related field
- Experience interpreting and enforcing municipal ordinances, reviewing development plans, and conducting field inspections
- Knowledge of GIS software, landscape compliance, and applicable certifications (or the ability to obtain them)
- A valid South Carolina driver’s license
