The school, located on the Upper East Side, serves a diverse community of approximately 385 students and 100 employees. Job Overview: The Development and Special Events Manager plays a key role in the school's fundraising and engagement efforts by managing and planning development operations and special events for the school community (current and past parents, alumni, trustees, faculty and staff, et al.). This position works collaboratively with the Director of Development and other members of the development and communications team to support fundraising campaigns, volunteer engagement, and constituent management. Responsibilities Events and Operations Support the school’s operations committee and manage the planning and execution of 40+ events, including school-wide events, donor and stewardship receptions, and community engagement activities, such as Grandparents and Special Friends Day, the Fathers Dinner, New Parent Dinner, and regional eventsManage all development event logistics, including logistical planning, invitations, run-of-show, registration, vendors, and post-event evaluationCoordinate volunteers and internal departments, such as security, facilities, and catering, to ensure successful event execution Fundraising Campaigns Assist with maintaining accurate constituent records within Raiser’s Edge and other development pipelines and tracking documentsManage the creation of personalized gift proposals, pledge reminders, and briefing materialsSupport the Director of Development with volunteer management, as neededSupport donor stewardship initiatives and materials, including the mailing of impact reports and other leadership recognition efforts School Community Participate fully in the life of the school community through activities such as supervising a student lunch table and attending school assemblies and other eventsBe willing to pitch in where needed and help with coverage needs that might ariseOther duties as assigned by the Head of School and Director of Development Qualifications Bachelor's degree requiredMinimum of 3 years of experience preferred in fundraising or campaign managementSpecial event experience requiredExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills requiredStrong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities requiredBlackbaud Raiser’s Edge, iWave, and Google Workspace experience preferred Appreciation for ritual, tradition, and the joyful unpredictability of a boys schoolFor all St. Bernard’s positions, the ability to play the piano is always considered appealing (music is a part of everyone’s day), but it is by no means a requirement.
