Developer I
About the role
The Developer I works with other developers, designers, and producers to translate project requirements into technical tasks and author functional code to complete the project. Additionally, they are expected to take initiative in testing the applications they author, identifying bugs, and deploying fixes. It is expected that more senior developers would review a Developer 1’s code for testing and evaluation. These requirements mean that a Developer 1 must have a team-oriented attitude. A successful Developer 1 will be enthusiastic about exploring and learning new technologies and will be capable of understanding the existing preferences of Ideum (e.g., Unity) as well as extending their knowledge into new frameworks, libraries, and hardware stacks.
Responsibilities
- Work with producer and designer teams to build code in Unity, and other tech stacks as needed, to create custom software experiences for museums and corporate clients.
- Test code on target hardware or equivalent.
- Participate in internal and client-facing meetings.
- Keep lines of communication open and actively participate in project updates.
- Manage time to execute work on schedule while also keeping the team up to date with any issues that arise that could impact the timely delivery or quality of software products.
- Iterate work to reach the quality senior developers directly as appropriate for Alpha and Beta client reviews.
- Seek out feedback on work products.
Qualifications
A successful Developer 1 will be enthusiastic about working in an in-person, team environment, recognize and work to fix technical issues, and be able to test applications and provide steps to reproduce issues. They should be willing to work within the company methodology and processes and demonstrate competence in, or the ability to learn, relevant domains such as UI/UX development, object-oriented programming, hardware integration, graphics programming, linear algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. They should also be able to learn new skills as needed.
