Job Description

As a Detention Security Officer - Full Time Entrance Inspections in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Unarmed Security Officer at a government corrections location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a secure environment. This driving post requires a valid driver’s license. You will deliver professional customer service, clear communication, and timely reporting while working as part of a team that reflects Allied Universal’s agile, reliable, innovative, caring, and integrity-driven values.

$17.00 per hour

Schedule

• Full Time
• Wednesday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Thursday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Friday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or authorized personnel at a government correctional facility while carrying out site-specific procedures and security-related policies.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including building perimeters, access points, and parking areas, to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to designated areas, verify credentials as directed, and report unauthorized entry attempts or unusual conditions to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established emergency response procedures.
• Prepare clear and accurate reports of patrols, incidents, observations, and security-related activities in accordance with site requirements.

Requirements

• A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
