About the role
Mirion Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Detector Engineer to join our team at the Meriden facility. This role involves developing and optimizing manufacturing processes for Germanium detector products, troubleshooting equipment issues, and leading the industrialization phase of new product development.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and optimizes manufacturing processes for Germanium detectors and hardware.
- Facilitates the design and development of manufacturing fixtures and aids for the Fabrication, Assembly, and Test stages of Germanium detector production.
- Interacts with Engineering and Production groups to solve manufacturing problems and assists in maintaining production equipment.
- Analyzes and reviews current processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize waste.
- Upgrades hardware and software to implement automation approaches where applicable.
- Assists in troubleshooting production system failures and performs root cause analysis to implement solutions.
- Creates and revises work instructions, test instructions, detailed reports, and other necessary documentation.
- Installs, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs manufacturing equipment.
- Develops and implements quality control processes to ensure product specifications are met.
- Analyzes production data to improve efficiency and identify future needs.
- Trains production technicians on newly implemented or existing manufacturing processes.
- Leads the pre-production phase and associated activities for new product releases.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of industry-standard manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software.
- Experience with manufacturing principles.
- Experience with system automation.
- Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g., C++, VB, Python).
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to develop and execute work plans.
- Working knowledge in general chemistry.
Additional Duties
- Promote and support a safe, ergonomic, and environmentally sound workplace.
- Create and review engineering drawings for manufacturability, including tolerance stack analysis.
Qualifications
- BS in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of prior experience.
Skills
- Experience with vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, surface chemistry, and other semiconductor manufacturing processes/systems.
- Aptitude to quickly learn and understand the operation of equipment in the production of Germanium detector products.
