About the Role
We are seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to provide technical assistance and support to end users for hardware, software, and network-related issues. This role involves responding to user inquiries via phone or remote session, troubleshooting a variety of IT problems, and ensuring timely resolution through effective communication and technical expertise. The ideal candidate will have experience in a help desk environment and demonstrate working knowledge of common IT tools and support methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to user inquiries via phone or remote session, providing support for computer software and hardware issues with a focus on customer service and technical resolution.
- Utilize software tools for remote management, troubleshooting, asset management, patch management, and antivirus operations.
- Participate in the help desk ticket dispatch rotation to ensure prompt handling of support requests.
- Install and perform repairs on hardware, software, and peripheral equipment in accordance with design and installation specifications.
- Document daily support activities, including communication transactions, issues encountered, actions taken, and installation activities.
- Evaluate software and hardware, making recommendations for upgrades or improvements.
- Perform user account password resets and support user onboarding by setting up equipment, installing cables, operating systems, and required software.
- May create and manage Active Directory user accounts, Microsoft Exchange mailboxes, and distribution groups.
- May develop and distribute user documentation, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
- May provide training to users on the correct use of hardware and software tools.
- Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in desktop support.
- College education or technical training in computer-related fields may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Exchange.
- Working knowledge of help desk environments and basic IT support processes.
- Familiarity with commonly used computer software applications and hardware.
- Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced support environment.
