Desk Officer - Level 3

VTG is seeking a Level 3 Desk Officer to support our Client’s challenging operational requirements at multiple locations in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

About the role

Ideal candidates are inquisitive, investigative, and action-oriented with the ability to take initiative and deliver solutions to complex operational problems, while identifying new technical tools and capabilities. Successful candidates are able to deal effectively and confidently with customer managers at all levels of responsibility.

Desk Officers apply advanced knowledge and expertise of operations, operational tradecraft, and intelligence priorities when providing strategic guidance and operational case management. In addition, they are responsible for program management throughout the customer, from traditional operational activities to specialized initiatives. They provide objective reviews of ongoing and potential operations and serve as the vital link between personnel in the field and the Intelligence Community.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance and operational case management using advanced knowledge of operations, operational tradecraft, and intelligence priorities
• Manage programs across the customer, including traditional operational activities and specialized initiatives
• Conduct objective reviews of ongoing and potential operations
• Serve as the vital link between personnel in the field and the Intelligence Community

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 7-12 years of applicable experience (Level 3), 12-20 years (Level 4), or 20+ years (Level 5)
• Cable writing experience
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (must be maintainable at time of application)
• Familiarity with classified databases, including specific targeting tools
• Strong briefing and writing skills
• Ability to work well with teams or individually with minimal supervision
• Regional and/or functional expertise in a geographic region of interest
• Initiative, creativity, technical excellence, and strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-starter who can multi-task and remain calm under pressure
• Ability to work both independently and in a group
• Prior experience in supporting intelligence operations or familiarity with the Intelligence Community and its objectives

Qualifications (Desired)

• Customer certification as a Desk Officer or Staff Operations Officer
• Foreign field experience from at least one overseas tour or extensive overseas TDY experience
• Experience in Intelligence Operations / Analysis / Support to Field Operations
• Experience identifying targeting leads through the exploitation of all-source databases
• Experience using customer databases to monitor field traffic and communicate with field offices

Pay

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $138,000 - $146,800 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations, and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
