Designer - Product Engineering
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Four year applicable degree with one year's industry specific experience (preferred) or Two year applicable degree with two years' industry specific experience or Mechanical Design Certificate ("Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate in Mechanical Design" meets this requirement) plus four years' industry specific experience
- 3D CAD Required (for Mechanical Drafters)
- Basic PC skills, utilizing spreadsheets, word processing and databases
Desired Skills
- Experience with 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (SolidWorks) modeling
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM software
- Ability to work with immediate project team, as well as with expanded teams on new product creation and improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Detail oriented
- Customer service oriented
Responsibilities
- Use 3D software (SolidWorks) to create models and drawings of structural components and mechanical systems
- Set up and maintain Bills of Material for product designs
- Generate service replacement parts pages used by our customers to maintain their equipment
- Work in conjunction with engineers to create hydraulic and electrical system schematics
- Work with Engineering and Production associates to fine tune product designs for manufacturability and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with the overall Team Altec to maintain a culture of continuous improvement
- Collaborate with manufacturing to facilitate transition of designs into production
- Troubleshoot and address model and drawing related concerns
