About the role

The Design Consultant delivers highly personalized, whole-home design solutions and exceptional service by listening to customer needs and collaborating on every detail. This role is critical to the California Closets brand experience and customer relationships, requiring passion for design, integrity, and commitment to excellence in measuring, designing, selling, and delivering custom solutions.

This is a full-time position (40+ hours per week) with a 12-week paid training period at $800 per week. The first four weeks require showroom hours Monday–Friday, 8 am–4 pm. After training, the role transitions to an uncapped earning structure with no base salary, plus bonus opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Commute to customers’ homes and design custom storage solutions using proprietary CAD software.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets by pursuing referrals and repeat business.
  • Follow up with customers and collaborate with the installation team to ensure job completion.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects and clients of varying complexity in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Interior design education, direct industry experience, or in-home sales experience is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 and experience with laptops, tablets, and other electronic devices is required.
  • Previous experience with Salesforce, CAD, or design software is preferred.
  • Ability to be creative yet meticulously detail-oriented with a sense of craftsmanship.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
