About the role
This role manages utility service design projects from initiation through billing. You will read as-builts, bill customers, submit utility locates, and coordinate third-party site visits (without conducting the visits yourself). The position operates in a collaborative, project-based environment requiring strong organization and multitasking, with an individual-contributor focus but frequent coordination across teams and with customers.
Responsibilities
- Review customer notifications in SAP and communicate with customers to gather requirements.
- Complete design work in Smallworld GIS.
- Coordinate with work coordinators to schedule field crews and support crews during execution.
- Finalize billing based on as-built diagrams.
- Log into SAP to review assigned notifications and contact customers for information.
- Create work orders in SAP and coordinate with field crews (without supervising them).
- Answer field questions during execution and review completed work.
- Calculate billable amounts, generate invoices, and respond to customer billing questions.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining organization across tasks.
Qualifications
- Strong computer proficiency (SAP/GIS exposure preferred).
- Customer communication skills and a customer service mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and juggle multiple tasks.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability and comfort learning software systems (e.g., GIS/SAP).
- Self-starter attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Background in customer service, construction, or technical coordination is a strong fit.
- Utility industry exposure, GIS or AutoCAD familiarity, or SAP experience.
- Experience working with customers directly and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Schedule
Hybrid schedule: Tuesday–Thursday onsite, Monday/Friday remote. Flexible start times (many start around 7 AM) as long as available during customer business hours.
