About the Role

This full-time position is a key part of our design and graphics team, developing product packaging that complies with both product integrity requirements and visual appeal under varying shipping and display conditions. The Designer works closely with a cross-functional team to support our customer’s product needs and reports to the Plant Manager. The role is based at our manufacturing facility in Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with production, sales, commercialization/front end, and other stakeholders to deliver designs that meet all customer requirements.
  • Own the process of customer-requested samples, including prioritizing tasks using a project management tool, assembling samples, and preparing them for distribution.
  • Maintain all appropriate documentation, including artwork, CAD drawings, specifications, and testing documents.
  • Manage stock material for producing customer samples and own the replenishment process.
  • Monitor workload of orders, set up the cutting table, produce orders, and communicate estimated completion times to internal stakeholders.
  • Test, analyze, and select materials for packaging based on durability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on cutting tables.
  • Conduct quality checks on samples and orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in structural, graphic, or industrial design and 2+ years’ structural and/or graphic design experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience with Artios CAD, project management systems and/or workflow automation, Adobe Creative Suite or similar, and MS Office suite.
  • Previous experience with reading a tape measure.
  • Ability to use math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read work instructions to identify detailed steps for order completion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the corrugated industry.
  • 2+ years of work experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Involvement with operational excellence or continuous improvement programs.

Skills

  • Structural and/or graphic design.
  • Artios CAD, project management systems, and workflow automation.
  • Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software.
  • MS Office suite.
  • Reading and interpreting technical measurements (e.g., tape measure).
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Attention to detail and quality control.

Eligibility in benefit programs is based on hours worked per week.

Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $62,914 - $78,642 per year. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of posting. Pay may vary above or below this range based on factors such as education, certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day to accomplish tasks.
  • Manual and finger dexterity used regularly with some repetitive finger motions.
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision; ability to identify colors, small letters, and numbers; hand/eye coordination, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing and speaking abilities.
  • Frequent reaching, stretching, pushing, pulling, pinching, grasping, and gripping.
