Designer

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades, focusing on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for the aerospace, defense, and space industries. This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State.

About the role

Designers use CAD software to develop 3D models and drawings, ensuring each part of the design and fabrication process is consistent with accurate measurements, calculations, and specifications. Designers are heavily involved in design stages, research and development, construction, testing, and production phases. They must have design for manufacturability skills, understand technical aspects, and use analytical thinking to solve design problems while considering the entire manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed CAD Models ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and project specifications
• Support Manufacturing Processes: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure design packages are producible and assist with tooling, fixture, documentation, and design changes to maintain design and specification requirements
• Conduct Design Reviews: Participate in, lead, and initiate design reviews to present CAD models, provide technical explanations, and incorporate feedback from multidisciplinary teams, including assembly, manufacturing, and engineering teams
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Customer Teams
• Maintain Documentation: Generate and maintain detailed technical process documentation, material and component BOMs, revision histories, and revision notes
• Perform complex surfacing and lofting, highly functional solid modeling operations, and create complex parametric assemblies
• Apply fundamental understanding of GD&T and mechanical design to projects
• Ensure Aircraft Configuration Control: Track and manage aerospace assembly configurations by maintaining detailed records of design revisions, part interdependencies, and version control within CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Due to ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3)
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required); Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed
• Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory; requires agreement to enter a Continuous Evaluation program
• Associate of Arts Degree in Drafting/Design Technologies or a related field is preferred; education may be substituted with equivalent industry experience
• Experience in a PLM system such as SAP/ECTR is a plus
• Strong communication skills through written, verbal, and graphical mediums in the English language
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and 3D CAD System; CATIA or NX CAD software is preferred
• Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines, and demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
• Capable of communicating status and issues or roadblocks as required
• Being at work on time and maintaining good attendance is a condition of employment and an essential function of the job

Pay

Salary range for this role is between $83,000 - $110,000, plus discretionary bonus. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
