About the role
The Designer position at IA Interior Architects is responsible for providing design support primarily in project administration, design development, and contract documents. The role involves working closely with senior designers to develop design ideas, assist in the selection of fixtures and finishes, and compile pricing from manufacturers.
Responsibilities
- Completes technical drawings under the direction of senior designers
- Provides preliminary review of engineering drawings to ensure compliance with design solutions
- Aids in the selection of fixtures and finishes under supervision
- Develops preliminary space plans at a high level
- Provides suggested details for interior design projects as directed by senior designers
- Researches and collects details for furniture and finish cost estimates
- Develops preliminary plans as directed by senior staff
- Aids in verifying site details to support design
- Assists in field surveys of client spaces
- Supports the team in collecting information for client assessments
- Attends interviews and provides documentation support
- Develops skills using the Affinity program tool
- Serves as a resource for the Junior Designer
Requirements
- Graduate of architecture or design school or equivalent experience
- 3+ years’ experience in corporate workplace interiors, hospitality, and commercial design projects
Qualifications
- Familiarity with the range of design principles and aesthetics
- Familiarity with space planning methodology
- Familiarity with furnishings and finishes
- Intermediate sketching and rendering skills
- Intermediate interior architecture detailing skills
- Working knowledge of CAD and procedures
- Familiarity with building systems, codes, and ADA requirements
- Familiarity with requirements for the path of travel
- Commitment to supporting projects through all phases
- Intermediate MS Office Suite skills
- Advanced Revit skills
- Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills
- Basic Affinity Program skills
- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
- Basic presentation and graphic communication skills
