About the role
We are seeking a Designer for our Austin studio. The Designer, working under general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, presentations, concept design through design development, and contract documents.
Responsibilities
- Works with team to develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/or adaptive projects
- Develops design ideas and creates both presentation and construction drawings
- Drafts technical drawings
- For smaller projects, may oversee all design and drawing
- Reviews engineering and landscape drawings to ensure they comply with design solution
- With Senior Designer, researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projects
- Ensures integration into overall design
- Creates preliminary concept plans for larger projects
- May develop and finalize conceptual design for smaller projects
- Oversees Intermediate Designer to review space plans and tackles more complicated issues
- Provides detail for interior and architectural design projects
- Develops and delivers overall design and furniture packages for both interior and exterior
- Assists in developing packages for larger projects
- Obtains cost estimates and produces final cost estimates
- Manages design budget for assigned projects
- May mentor the work of Junior and Intermediate Designers
Requirements
- Graduate of architecture or design school; equivalent experience may be substituted
- 6+ years’ experience in workplace design, focusing on building repositioning and adaptive re-use projects as well as corporate interiors

- Extensive knowledge of design principles, workplace trends, and aesthetics
- Extensive knowledge of repositioning and adaptive re-use projects
- Advanced presentation skills
- Advanced knowledge of space planning
- Extensive knowledge of furnishings and finishes
- Extensive knowledge of the concepts of furniture layout
- Advanced sketching and rendering skills
- Advanced architecture detailing skills
- Extensive knowledge of CDs and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements
- Working knowledge of path of travel requirements
- Working knowledge of contract administration
- Intermediate MS Office Suite skills
- Advanced Revit skills
- Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills
