Responsibilities

  • Work with Sales and Technical staff to interpret project specifications and drawings, determining system layout.
  • Perform to a professional standard for accurate, neat, error-free work, as determined by the department manager.
  • Complete requests in accordance with sound business practices and general corporate policies.
  • Review drawings to ensure completeness and accuracy of work performed.
  • Understand and utilize company-drafting procedures.
  • Promote a team environment, assisting other drafters, designers, and engineers with their projects.
  • Create background floor plans in AutoCAD from scanned or hardcopy floor plans.
  • Perform takeoff and prepare counts of equipment and devices from floor plans.
  • Support the local sales team with pre-sale site visits, system design, and estimating.
  • Lead post-sale system design including equipment and software choices.
  • Monitor, manage, and improve the efficiency of support services such as maintenance of project documentation (contracts, revisions, estimates, work drawings, and specifications).
  • Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions.
  • Promptly resolve questions and problems related to assigned areas raised by customers.
  • Review plans and specifications where a design was prepared by others (e.g., MEP or FPE firms).
  • Support the sales department with pre-sale design and estimating.
  • Monitor and ensure the progress and completion of assigned tasks.
  • Complete and submit all required task-related activities, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Complete other projects to manager and customer satisfaction, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and instructions in English.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with internal and external teams and end users in English.
  • Working knowledge of low voltage communications systems.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proof of ability to legally work in the United States.
  • Ability to clear a drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
  • Basic understanding of security concepts, theories, and processes (intrusion systems, basic access control, and IP video).
  • Basic knowledge of electronic circuits, AC and DC voltage, and basic relay logic in conjunction with security design.
  • Actively participate in personal and professional development to maintain knowledge of current and new technologies.
  • Proficient knowledge in the use of AutoCAD for drafting and applying systems Everon provides.
  • Proficient knowledge of Everon’s product lines and related parts.

  • Ability to read architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints with a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems.
  • Ability to utilize a computer continually throughout the workday.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, delays, or unexpected events; manage competing demands.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Planning and organizing abilities.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, twist, use hands to handle, push, pull or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical requirements may include climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, or ramps; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; remaining stationary for prolonged periods; moving about to accomplish tasks; and working in tight or confined spaces.
  • General office duties including use of a computer.

Certification/Licensing

Fire Alarm Specific

  • Basic knowledge of current codes such as NFPA, IBC, IFC.
  • Preferred to have NICET Level I in Fire Alarm Systems or Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems.

Sprinkler Specific

  • Basic knowledge of current codes such as NFPA and IBC.
  • Ability to field survey an existing sprinkler system and document equipment and its exact location.
  • Ability to use sprinkler design software packages (AutoSprink, SprinkCAD, and/or HydraCAD) to layout new sprinkler head locations and digitize existing systems.
  • Basic knowledge of sprinkler system components/equipment and proper usage based on listing/approval.
  • Experience coordinating project designs with other trades utilizing native AutoCAD files.
  • Preferred to have NICET Level I in Water-Based Fire Protection Systems Layout.
