About the role
Develop 2D drawings and 3D models for utility piping systems in natural gas engineering and design. Produce piping layouts, isometrics, equipment arrangements, sections, details, and material takeoffs. Design and revise utility pipeline crossings for railroads, highways, and other infrastructure. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver coordinated, code-compliant designs.
Responsibilities
- Develop 2D drawings and 3D models for utility piping systems.
- Produce piping layouts, isometrics, equipment arrangements, and material takeoffs.
- Design and revise utility pipeline crossings for various infrastructures.
- Partner with multidisciplinary engineering teams for coordinated designs.
- Apply project specifications and industry standards, including API and ASTM requirements.
- Perform field walkdowns, verify existing conditions, and incorporate design revisions.
- Resolve design clashes and support constructability reviews using 3D modeling tools.
- Ensure drawing quality, accuracy, and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical support to estimating, procurement, and construction teams.
Requirements
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
- Strong understanding of utility piping systems and routing principles.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards relevant to piping design.
- 2–10 years of experience in utility design/engineering.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Bachelor’s in drafting, design, mechanical technology, or engineering.
- Experience with SmartPlant or similar 3D modeling tools.
- Understanding of material selection and equipment interfaces.

Pay
$36.06 – $57.69 per hour.
