About the role
This role applies strong technical knowledge to develop practical design solutions, collaborates effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, and communicates technical information clearly in both written and verbal form. The successful candidate demonstrates sound problem-solving ability, works with a high degree of independence, and contributes leadership and technical guidance to support project success.
This is a fully remote, contract position based in Salt Lake City, UT, with the requirement to travel to facilities as needed. The role involves collaborating with engineering and technical professionals, manufacturing, operations, and quality teams, as well as project stakeholders across multiple engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Establish workflows and manage collaboration processes to ensure external partners deliver design outputs that meet project expectations, documentation requirements, and records retention needs.
- Support and enhance working models that incorporate outsourced design resources.
- Apply and communicate design standards, tools, and best practices to enable efficient execution across internal teams and external partners.
- Create drawings and 3D models from written and verbal design requirements provided by internal stakeholders and external clients or partners.
- Execute complex design assignments with limited supervision and manage multiple drawing sets and project deliverables across different stages of completion.
- Apply industry-standard good manufacturing, sanitary design, quality, and safety principles in manufacturing-related design work.
- Develop designs that align with applicable quality, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of CAD workflows, intelligent drawings, and 3D design applications.
- Expertise in developing industrial design packages and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to solve design challenges through technical knowledge, analysis, and creative thinking.
- Proficiency in CAD and design tools, particularly AutoCAD and other Autodesk design tools.
- Advanced knowledge of CAD standards and industry drafting conventions.
- Experience in mechanical or BIM design, preferably within consumer products or a related manufacturing environment.
- Ability to provide leadership and technical direction on assigned design efforts.
- Knowledge of National CAD Standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related design discipline, or an associate degree with equivalent relevant experience is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 5 years with an associate degree, in mechanical or BIM design.
- Experience in a CAD coordination, lead design, or design leadership role is strongly preferred.
- Experience in piping design, particularly in an industrial setting such as food and beverage, is preferred.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
