You will produce high-quality 3D models and detailed design packages, including P&IDs, isometrics, and layouts, while collaborating closely with engineering and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate 3D piping models and detailed layouts using CADWorx, ensuring designs align with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Develop and update design deliverables such as isometrics, P&IDs, civil and structural drawings, and detailed plans to support engineers and project managers.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to translate concepts and requirements into practical, constructible designs.
  • Support multiple small-to-mid-size projects simultaneously, maintaining organized workflows and prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and project needs.
  • Ensure design packages are complete, coordinated, and ready for review, fabrication, and construction, including necessary details and annotations.
  • Apply knowledge of oil and gas or similar industrial environments to ensure designs reflect appropriate standards, terminology, and workflows.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from engineering, project management, and other stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Maintain consistent documentation and drawing standards across projects, helping to improve and standardize design practices where appropriate.
  • Manage time effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, proactively communicating progress, risks, and constraints to the project team.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, tight-knit team culture by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and demonstrating a progression mindset toward leadership roles.

Essential Skills

  • 6–10 years of drafting and design experience in oil and gas or a similar industrial environment, with flexibility for approximately 5–12 years for strong technical candidates.
  • Hands-on CADWorx experience with 3D modeling, including building piping models and detailed layouts, not limited to 2D drafting.
  • Proven experience creating piping and design deliverables such as isometrics, P&IDs, civil drawings, structural drawings, and detailed plans.
  • Industrial experience in oil and gas or comparable sectors such as mining or water/wastewater, with an understanding of industry standards, terminology, and workflows.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and 3D modeling for piping and industrial design applications.
  • Ability to work closely with engineers and project managers, demonstrating strong collaboration skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail and design quality.
  • Demonstrated progression mindset with interest in growing into subject matter expert or leadership roles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using Civil 3D or similar civil design tools for industrial projects.
  • Experience in civil and structural design within industrial facilities.
  • Experience working in contract or consulting environments and adapting to varying client standards and project requirements.
  • Familiarity with midstream oil and gas projects or other transferable industrial sectors such as mining or water/wastewater.
  • Interest in contributing to process improvements, standardization of design practices, and mentoring less experienced team members over time.
