About the role
The Designer- A New Day- Sweaters role is part of Target's Design team, which owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods, and beauty to essentials. The position requires a four-year degree in Design, Fine Art or related field, or equivalent experience, along with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Support and be responsible for Owned Brand product brands and/or categories that achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives.
- Work with an assigned category, brand, business or guest segment and manage your own process and calendar.
- Support and drive concepts throughout the development process, research, selection of materials/finishes, and the creation of silhouettes/form language.
- Translate ideas for product direction using CAD/hand sketches, prepare professional presentation boards with illustrations, CAD artwork, fabrication, and material samples.
- Support and drive product designs to maintain overall creative direction, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points.
- Build brand cohesion by partnering with peers across the division to ensure continuity.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve product issues in collaboration with technical designers/engineers and sourcing partners.
Requirements
- A Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Computer design system skills including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience in CAD illustration or 2D/3D software
- Knowledge of textiles, garment construction/fit or raw materials & product production
- Experience assimilating product feedback
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience working in a retail or product development environment
- Ability to build relationships in order to successfully work in a team environment
- Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative and cost-effective design solutions

Pay
The pay range for this role is $73,000.00 - $132,000.00, based on several factors including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
Schedule
This position operates as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement, requiring the team member to perform core role both onsite at the Target HQ MN location and virtually, depending on role, team, and task requirements.
