About the role
Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA.
- Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
- Captures design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of experience -or- Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience.
Qualifications
- Must have proficiency in utilization of AUTOCAD and SHIP CONSTRUCTOR for the purpose of supporting design and extraction/development of new drawings or Siemens NX for generating VWI - Virtual Work Instructions.
Skills
- Proficiency in utilizing computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA.
- Ability to gather information, make studies, compute calculations, and prepare original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
- Experience in coordinating design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups.
