About the role

Northrop Grumman is in need of a Designer 2 to work at its Elkton, Maryland or Palm Beach Gardens, Florida facilities. Under supervision of senior Designers, the entry-level Designer performs routine activities of the CAD Modeling and Drafting group, including preparing and updating drawings to company and industry standards in disciplines such as mechanical and electronics engineering for product, manufacturing, test, and tooling design and drafting for solid rocket and air-breathing propulsion systems.

Candidate must be able to carefully follow verbal and written instructions, quickly adapt to processes and practices including CADD and PLM systems, work thoroughly and accurately, and be comfortable working extended periods at a workstation. A strong willingness to learn and interact with engineering staff to contribute design solutions and drawing/model creation is essential.

Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Drafting and modeling of minor components, portions of systems, and modifications to existing designs to improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
• Modifying drawings utilizing computer-aided design software (currently Siemens NX & PTC CREO).
• Performing necessary calculations for basic sizing of part interfaces.
• Coordinating design criteria with other designers, engineering, manufacturing, and tooling.
• Gathering information.

Requirements

• 2 years of experience or a combination of experience plus related education.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years CADD training.
• Familiarity with CADD software, 3D modeling, and 2D drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years post-secondary high school education in CADD.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5).
• Familiarity with ASME drawing standards.
• Previous work experience as a designer.

Pay

Primary salary range: $55,500.00 – $92,500.00. The above range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
