About the role
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a Designated Coordinator to oversee program management for homes supporting individuals with disabilities. The role involves guiding, encouraging, and supporting individuals, advocating for their health and wellness, and ensuring they achieve their goals while promoting independence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the program management for homes supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Ensure each individual receives guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety through relationship building.
- Advocate for the health and wellness needs of individuals and promote independence in performing essential life skills.
- Maintain and administer medication and medical treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Maintain and manage each individual's plan and financial records according to regulations and program policies and procedures.
- Supervise, support, train, and evaluate Direct Support Professionals to ensure they are effective advocates for the individuals they work with.
- Manage accounts payable, payroll records, petty cash/individual accounts, and budget monitoring.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with counties, families, stakeholders, and community organizations/groups.
- Document, keep records, and participate in periodic meetings/trainings.
- Be available as needed for emergencies and to meet the needs of the program.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a field related to Human Services and one year of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons aged 65 and older;
- An associate's degree in a field related to Human Services and two years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons aged 65 and older;
- A diploma in a field related to Human Services from an accredited postsecondary institution and three years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons aged 65 and older;
- A minimum of 50 hours of education and training related to Human Services and disabilities and four years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons aged 65 and older under the supervision of a staff person who meets the qualifications identified in clauses 1 to 3.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to Human Services and a BCDP designation is required when managing an ICF/MR program.
- Driver's license required.
- CPR certificate, First Aid (when required), and medication administration training is required but can be obtained after hire.
- Training in supervisory skills, team building, and leadership.
- Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) clearance is required.
- Motor Vehicle Check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record is required.
