Responsibilities

  • Design 2D and 3D fire sprinkler systems (new construction, mixed-use buildings, standpipe systems, fire pumps) to ensure compliance with project specifications, all applicable NFPA standards, and local codes.
  • Coordinate sprinkler system design using 3D modeling in new and existing structures with architects and other MEP trades.
  • Assist design trainees with field surveys to verify existing conditions and perform field surveys throughout construction to ensure accurate installation of projects.
  • Prepare shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and material submittals for review by Architects, Engineers, and Authority Having Jurisdiction.
  • Compile stock lists and material requisitions for the installation of fire sprinkler systems along with installation prints.

Requirements

  • Fire Protection Engineering Technology Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology.
  • 6 months of experience as a Sprinkler Designer or a related occupation.

Physical & Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods.
  • Occasionally bend, kneel, balance, lift less than 20 lbs, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, drive, twist, and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Frequently drive and walk for extended periods.
  • Consistently work indoors in an office setting, both alone and with others.
  • Occasionally work outside and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies while visiting locations.
