Design Sales Specialist
Purpose
The purpose of this role is to serve as the professional point of contact for specialty product customers by coordinating and creating design projects including Kitchen and Bath, Millwork, renovations, and remodels. This involves consulting with customers to determine project requirements, designing plan layouts, initiating and controlling specialty orders, and managing project management reports.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Actively engages in selling company products and services.
- Consults with customers to determine project requirements by preparing information regarding design, specifications, materials, and estimated costs.
- Designs plan layout as requested by customer, utilizing blueprints or sketches.
- Makes sales calls in the field to measure, sell, follow-up, etc. as part of providing exceptional customer service.
- Works with marketing department on implementation of marketing and merchandising programs.
- Makes sales calls in the field to measure, sell, follow-up, etc. as part of providing exceptional customer service.
- Coordinates the purchase of needed materials and add-on sales.
- Works with purchasing department and/or appropriate buyers on special orders including creation of purchase orders.
- Prepares and provides project management reports on a weekly basis for store, regional and corporate management.
- May conduct in-store workshops and seminars.
- Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Two (2) years drafting, architectural design or CAD application experience
Competencies
- Ability to think strategically, forecast and drive sales
- Excellent customer service skills, sales experience in design/project development
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use knowledge of drafting, architectural design or CAD applications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program
Work Environment / Physical Activity
- Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds
- Minimal travel by car may be required
