About the role
The Design Release Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, advance product & quality planning (APQP), and production release of a system/component within Fuels Systems: Fuel/Urea tanks and fuel/urea delivery modules. Other responsibilities will include quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction, and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and advance product & quality planning (APQP) of system/components within Fuels Systems: Fuel/Urea tanks and fuel/urea delivery modules.
- Work with suppliers and interact with internal and external groups such as vehicle program team, testing & prototype labs, CAE engineers, supplier operations, and manufacturing plants.
- Communicate technical product status to management.
- Conduct quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction, and other efficiency improvement initiatives.
- Interact with suppliers and work closely with internal and external groups such as vehicle program team, testing & prototype labs, CAE engineers, supplier operations, and manufacturing plants.
- Participate in design failure mode & effects analysis (DFMEA).
- Create design verification plan & report (DVP&R).
- Implement Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Reactive Methodology, preferred Belt certification.
- Manage fasteners/torque, GD&T, and NX, Teamcenter, PLM knowledge.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of design/development automotive engineering experience in Fuel Systems and Diesel/Urea Systems.
- Proficiency in English (write, listen, and speak) is a requirement.
- Self-starter with strong leadership, communication & organizational skills and demonstrated problem solving ability.
Preferred Requirements
- Automotive product engineering experience.
- Injection molded, blow molded Fuel/Urea tank design.
- Knowledge of Fuel/Urea Tanks, FDM, and UDM’s virtual simulations.
- Fuel Delivery Module and/or Urea Delivery Module design knowledge.
- Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Reactive Methodology, preferred Belt certification.
- General understanding of fasteners/torque.
- General understanding of GD&T.
- General understanding of NX, Teamcenter, PLM.
