About the Role
The Design Project Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the engineering department to meet project objectives for design, new product development, and improvement of existing product lines. Major responsibilities include directing all engineering activities related to project execution, contract review, design management, and product development for all Stellar Energy’s product lines.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage engineering and design activities for project execution, contract review, quality management, and product development for all Stellar Energy projects.
- Manage internal and external engineering resources.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Facilitate communication among clients/customers and engineers, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.
- Serve as Design Project Manager for multiple projects, creating timelines, engineering schedules, and cost projections, organizing collaborative meetings, and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Review work and projects for technical accuracy.
- Establish, implement, and maintain administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices; apply this knowledge to continually improve product lines and production efficiency.
- Responsible for cost planning and control to meet goals.
- Responsible for the development and design execution of Stellar Energy’s product line.
- Manage company technical specifications, procedures, and design data.
- Maintain good interface with other disciplines.
- Focus on the product design phase.
- Manage engineering resources (manhours) budget.
- Ensure designs meet specifications, codes, and standards.
- Manage RFI, ECR, CORs, 30-60-90/NPI.
- Review and approve documents at 30/60/90 design reviews.
- Conduct 30/60/90 design reviews.
- Ensure all KPIs are met prior to each gate review.
- Hold NPI gate reviews (PDR, CDR, DDR).
- Coordinate vendor submittals to CPM.
- Manage engineering subcontractors during the product design phase.
- Drive schedule with Engineering.
- Coordinate DPM/CPM schedule.
- Collaborate with CPM to align deliverables.
- Track latest BOM release to align with procurement purchases.
- Participate in ISO 9001 and other audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited University.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in power generation design, cooling system design, or similar design project working experience.
- Familiar with ASME B31, NEC, ASHRAE, AHRI, CTI, HI, and various building codes.
- Familiar with selection and technical requirements of general mechanical equipment including chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the USA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering or business from an accredited University.
- Knowledge of 3D CAD software and AutoCAD preferred.

Work Environment
- Most work is performed in an office environment.
- Regular trips to the production floor for observation and support may be necessary, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and head protection.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit.
- Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand.
- Must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Schedule
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Overtime and weekend work are required as necessary.
Travel
Anticipated 20% travel for this position. Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary.
