Design Manager - Rail and Transit
About the role
Pursue a career at Parsons where you can lead a design team on large Design Build and Alternative Delivery Projects, work alongside contractor partners, and contribute to the development of rail transit systems and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Formulate marketing and pursuit strategies, including teaming partners strategies in various capacities on large design-build pursuits.
- Lead project planning, define project goals, and devise methods to organize and deliver engineering tasks.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies, and implement them.
- Manage budgets and schedules to meet financial goals of the project.
- Lead project execution to meet customer requirements and criteria.
- Support proposal development and price negotiations with subcontractors and contractors.
- Lead the project from Concept/Initial Project Definition to 30%, including accurate costing/scheduling.
- Coordinate with third parties regarding requirements, agreements, regional entities, utilities, codes, Authorities Having Jurisdiction, adjacent businesses or stakeholders.
- Provide direction, scope, and commercial performance management for large scale Design-Build and/or Alternative Project Delivery (ADP) projects.
- Ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Oversee establishment of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.
- Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project.
- Mobilize company resources through liaison with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work.
- Work with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.
- Ensure the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
- Promote technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes.
Requirements
- 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related)
- At least 10+ years of related work experience
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
- Experience as a Design Manager on Design-Build and/or other Alternative Project Delivery projects
- Proven background of leading multidisciplinary design teams on challenging, high-profile projects; teamwork, leadership and responsiveness
Qualifications
- Experience with MBTA preferred
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Knowledgeable of current technology and its effective utilization on the project

Pay
$120,800.00 - $217,400.00
