Design Manager (Location: Scranton, PA)

About the role

GHD's US East region is looking for a Design Manager to join their team. This position will be based in the Scranton, PA area to strategically support their expanding client base in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multidiscipline design efforts
• Solve problems and ensure designs achieve intended results
• Support all aspects of the project including engineering solutions, standards specification, project management, process design engineering, contract management, inspections, and client/customer management
• Manage day-to-day relationships with contract service providers
• Develop own capabilities through ongoing education and training
• Manage inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures
• Manage relationships with small clients and help senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field of study
• EIT and either have or be seeking to obtain a PE (highly preferred)
• A minimum of 6 years of technical, administrative, and project experience, managing the design delivery for larger, multi-discipline projects specifically for water and wastewater, industrial/process plants, facilities, or buildings
• Previous consulting experience strongly desired
• Knowledge of scheduling software and engineering and capital cost estimating techniques (definite asset)
• Able and willing to travel to client job sites as needed (primarily local with the occasional overnight)
• Strong communication abilities to lead a multidiscipline team
