Design Intern

About the role

The Designer Intern will join the Marshfield, WI design team supporting PCA’s customers. In this position you will collaborate with customers and internal team members to evaluate needs, design packaging solutions, build prototypes, and create samples that are cost‑effective and aesthetically appealing. You will also prepare CAD specifications for production and help optimize department and manufacturing efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and team members to assess packaging needs and expectations.
• Design corrugated packaging solutions that balance cost effectiveness and visual appeal.
• Build prototypes and produce samples for customer review.
• Prepare CAD specifications for the manufacturing process.
• Partner with other team members to fulfill customer requests and improve departmental efficiency.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in the Packaging Engineering program at the University of Wisconsin – Stout.
• Knowledge of corrugated structural design principles.
• Excellent verbal and visual communication skills.
• Creative thinking, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply new concepts.
• Close attention to detail and commitment to flawless execution.
• Proficiency with CAD software, Microsoft Office, and an understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting salary: $20.00 per hour.
• Paid holidays.
