Design Intern

About the role

Donaldson’s internship program offers innovative students hands‑on experience in a collaborative industry environment. The Design Intern will work in Nicholasville, KY for a 10‑12‑week summer 2027 assignment in the facility custom design department, assisting with customer orders for new equipment and supporting processes, manufacturing, operational improvement, preventative maintenance, and machine repair. Relocation assistance is not provided and immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Participate in working on new customer orders and supporting the custom design team with modeling and drafting.
• Engage in the production cycle: from raw material to finished goods.
• Work side‑by‑side with current staff and independently on some projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled undergraduate pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• SolidWorks experience.
• Experience in Microsoft Office applications: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with drafting or blueprint reading.
• Understanding of the design of experiment process.
• Honed active listening skills, with intention and ability to put feedback from others into practice.
• Initiative to raise questions, bring forth ideas and self‑starter nature.
• Interest and experience in creating presentations in PowerPoint to present to various stakeholders.
• Minimum 3.0 out of a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
• Strong communication skills.
