Design Engineer I/II

About the role

This opportunity is for a unique individual with an engineering background who also enjoys working with their hands. The Design Engineer oversees large Truck Mount project management, including initial viability investigation, cost analysis, initial design, product research, and preliminary testing.

Responsibilities

• Follow the product development process from initial concept to Alpha Prototype design using available resources.
• Aid in refining the initial prototype, incorporating it into production, and ensuring customer acceptance.
• Manage the Beta process for ground-up designs or the Preproduction process.
• Conduct final testing with thorough documentation in drawings, manuals, and kit instructions.
• Manage full project documentation, including schedules, logs, test data, requirements, statements of work, and project approvals.
• Design CAD equipment based on project pillar requirements (e.g., cfm for recovery, water pressure (psi), water volume (gpm)).
• Assist in final production implementation.
• Respond to vendor and customer interactions as needed.
• Create Engineering Change Orders.
• Provide testing and data acquisition.
• Complete proto fabrication and design, assemble prototypes, and test samples.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or design.
• Experience working with manufacturing and machines preferred.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and D365 (or equivalent MRP).
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Strong aptitude for creating detailed blueprints and instructions.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Accurate and precise attention to detail.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with customers via phone and in-person.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Driven, goal-oriented, and willing to take on new challenges.

Qualifications by Level

• Design Engineer I: Intended for individuals with a minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience. Requires knowledge and competent demonstration of the Legend Brands Design Process within 6 months of hire.
• Design Engineer II: Intended for individuals with a minimum of 5 years of related work experience. Requires working knowledge and competent demonstration of:
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering and design principles.
  • Understanding of CAD drawings, bill of materials (MRP), SolidWorks, and PDM Vault.
  • Ability to organize plans and create schedules using MS Project.
  • Experience estimating and establishing cost parameters and budgets for design.

Pay

Hiring range: $80,200 - $97,000 DOE.
