Responsibilities
- Create accurate and detailed sales layout drawings of trailers for orders and quotes, and update plant layouts as needed by Sales Department and Production Management.
- Design and conduct research by applying engineering principles, mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer and properties to evaluate and validate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products.
- Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical products by researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials, while soliciting feedback from operators based on customer requirements.
- Design and modify equipment for fabrication, assembly, and installation of components.
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes for new equipment designs and/or modifications and train/guide technicians on these changes.
- Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to assess manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
- Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production issues, enhance product reliability, and minimize costs.
- Design testing methods to ensure system and production quality and assess finished product and system capabilities to validate fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize information to prepare production reports based on the data obtained.
- Continuously update and maintain various engineering computer systems, software, production database, procedure changes, and an accurate library of trailer designs, components, and related manufactured parts.
- Assist with general IT questions and/or issues.
- Ensure work meets quality standards and is completed within production deadlines.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment or equivalent experience with related products.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in design fabrication.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing industry/professional publications; networking, and participation in professional societies.
Skills
- Proficient in manufacturing software programs, including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation Packages, SolidWorks’ API, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Visual Studio, VB.Net framework, and VBA macros.
- Detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities while easily adapting to changing situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide creative solutions to manufacturing challenges, ensuring internal and external customer requirements are met or exceeded.
- Effectively work with vendors, customers, and colleagues.
- Excel in a team environment.
- Familiar with livestock, livestock transportation, product construction and application, and knowledgeable about fabrication and assembly practices, tools, and fixtures.
- Organized and self-motivated, demonstrating a strong sense of urgency to complete tasks in a timely manner, while also working independently.
- Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary and intellectual property.

- Combination of office, manufacturing plant, and outdoor environment.
