Design Engineer I

About the Role

Designs truss components and truss repairs for MiTek customers and creatively solves engineering issues our customers have.

Responsibilities

• Creatively design field repairs for truss components in accordance with acceptable engineering principles and judgment.
• Design truss components based on specified parameters from customers using knowledge of engineering and building codes, collaborating with other engineers to ensure designs protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
• Discuss design modifications and review appropriate design methodologies with customers.
• Assist, train, and counsel customers in troubleshooting issues and design problems.
• Review results of truss design software for accuracy and collaborate with other engineers and the software development team to determine software functionality.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and building officials on customer component design projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, preferably in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Ability to perform technical skills including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, basic calculus, physics, statistics, strength of materials, and structural analysis.
• Ability to read and understand prints and schematics.
• Able to use Microsoft Office Applications.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) – Any State Board preferred.

Additional Requirements

• 5% domestic travel as necessary.

This role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone, and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role.
