Design Engineer – Division 26E
About the role
Do you enjoy bridging the gap between design and field execution in complex electrical infrastructure environments? We’re looking for a technically driven and highly collaborative Engineer – Division 26E to support the planning, coordination, and execution of critical electrical infrastructure systems across large-scale and mission-critical construction projects. In this role, you’ll work closely with subcontractors, BIM/VDC teams, design partners, and field leadership to ensure Division 26E infrastructure scope is coordinated, constructable, and ready for execution before work reaches the field. You’ll play a key role in translating design intent into field-ready work packages that support installation sequencing, workfront readiness, and efficient project delivery. From supports and conveyance systems to grounding, bonding, and rough-in infrastructure, you’ll help drive technical coordination and execution continuity from design development through turnover.
Responsibilities
- Coverage of infrastructure scope with subcontractors and trade partners to validate layouts, constructability, installation assumptions, and field access requirements
- Support coordinated work package development for supports, conveyance systems, grounding and bonding, rough-in infrastructure, and prerequisite releases
- Aid in converting design intent into practical, field-executable installation plans aligned with construction sequencing and workfront readiness
- Coordinate closely with BIM/VDC, technical leadership, field operations, and design teams to identify and close scope gaps prior to field release
- Participate in design-assist and design-build coordination efforts focused on constructability, installation feasibility, and execution readiness
- Assist with submittals, RFIs, revisions, and technical documentation to maintain alignment with project requirements and evolving field conditions
- Support updates to drawings and documentation based on field conditions, revisions, and as-built requirements
- Coordinate between Division 26E and adjacent trades to ensure alignment across shared systems and infrastructure interfaces
- Help ensure technical completeness and readiness for commissioning, testing, and turnover activities
Systems & Infrastructure
- Serves as the backbone of mission-critical environments
- Includes supports, conduit systems, cable pathways, grounding and bonding systems, rough-in infrastructure, and enabling electrical systems
- Collaborates with electrical systems, low-voltage infrastructure, structural systems, and adjacent construction trades
- Utilizes BIM/VDC coordination, field layout integration, and constructability-driven planning processes
What You Bring
- 3–6+ years of experience supporting electrical construction, infrastructure coordination, or engineering-related project environments
- Working knowledge of Division 26E systems including supports, conveyance, grounding and bonding, and rough-in infrastructure
- Understanding of construction sequencing, installation methods, and constructability principles
- Ability to interpret design drawings and translate technical intent into coordinated, field-ready work packages
- Familiarity with design-assist and design-build project delivery models
- Exposure to BIM/VDC coordination tools and model-based construction workflows preferred
- Exposure to RFIs, submittals, revisions, and field change management processes
- Strong coordination and communication skills across subcontractors, field teams, and design partners
- Strong problem-solving mindset with focus on constructability and execution outcomes
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, schedule-driven construction environments
- Exposure to data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
- EIT or related technical certification is a plus
