Design Engineer / Checker - Level 2
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, equivalent experience combined with education considered, with 2 years of professional experience. Minimum of 1 year of engineering design or design checking or quality assurance experience with a strong CAD focus, preferably on advanced fighter aircraft programs. Proficient user of Siemens’ NX CAD system. Demonstrated ability to work in a model centric environment and perform model based verification. Proficient with PC operations, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and PLM tools. Must be a US Citizen; this position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Job Description
You will be the Design Engineer / Checker - Level 2 for the Build to Package Verification Process and Compliance team which is responsible for ensuring the integrity, completeness, and compliance of F‑35 engineering designs and 3‑D models.
What You Will Be Doing
- As the Design Engineer / Checker - Level 2 you will be responsible for acting as a critical quality gate, reviewing designs, applying GD&T, and validating models before they move downstream.
- Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Review and analyze F‑35 engineering designs and 3‑D models for compliance with specifications, standards, and downstream user needs.
- Apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T principles and verify drawing standards per ASME Y14.100.
- Conduct model‑centric verification, ensuring full definition of features and FSDA compliance.
- Generate concise check and non‑conformance reports while maintaining traceability matrices.
- Collaborate with design engineers, configuration managers, and program stakeholders to resolve issues quickly and effectively.

Desired Skills
- Working experience with Full-Sized Determinant Assembly (FSDA) modeling practices.
- Working knowledge and practical application of ASME Y14.5 GD&T along with familiarity of ASME drawings.
- Working experience with Siemens’ TeamCenter PLM tools.
- Mono-based or mono-detail design practices experience.
- Experience with Full Sized Determinant Assembly (FSDA) designs.
- Knowledge of DoD contract requirements and MIL STD documentation.
- Familiarity with Configuration Management.
- Working knowledge and practical application of ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing practices.
- Ability to develop check scripts/macros to automate routine verification tasks.
- Very detail oriented with good verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Prowess in a fast paced, deadline driven team settings.
