Design Engineer

About the role

PolyMarket is seeking a Design Engineer to enhance the user interface of its prediction market platform. The ideal candidate will have a blend of design and engineering skills, focusing on creating intuitive and engaging experiences.

Responsibilities

• Build and prototype new UI components, animations, and interactions that improve the product experience.
• Write the code behind these components, ensuring they are efficient and visually appealing.
• Own the design system, driving consistency, accessibility, and performance across all Polymarket products.
• Work closely with designers and engineers to ensure that the final product matches the vision and often exceeds it.
• Stay updated with emerging web technologies, interaction patterns, and design trends, and apply this knowledge to Polymarket.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience in design engineering, front-end development, or a hybrid role that spans both.
• Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, and TypeScript, with expertise in interactions, animation, performance, and polish.
• A deep understanding of design principles including typography, layout, color, and visual hierarchy.
• Experience working with Figma, design tokens, and design systems to bridge the gap between design intent and production reality.
• An eye for detail that goes beyond mere perfectionism, with a commitment to fixing issues others might overlook.
• Genuine passion for markets, truth, and freedom of speech.

Qualifications

• Understanding of DeFi and financial markets, with a willingness to deepen this understanding.
